TotalEnergies find more oil, gas off Suriname
TotalEnergies announced on February 21 it had made its fifth oil and gas discovery at Block 58 off the coast of Suriname, after drilling the Krabdagu-1 well.
The successful result at Krabdagu-1, situated in the centre of the block, follows previous discoveries at the Maka, Sapakara, Kwaskwasi and Keskesi wells, as well as successful testing at the Sapakara South-1 appraisal well. The latest well was drilled in waters 780 m deep and found 90 m of net oil pay in good quality Maastrichtian and Campanian reservoirs, the French major said.

"This result encourages us to continue our exploration and appraisal strategy for this prolific block 58 in order to identify sufficient resources by year-end 2022 for a first oil development," TotalEnergies' senior vice president for exploration, Kevin McLachlan, said on February 21.
TotalEnergies became operator of Block 58 in January last year and holds a 50% interest in the site. Its partner APA Corp controls the remaining 50%. The pair plan to drill at least three more exploration and appraisal wells at the block this year.
