Venture Global Begins Installing Liquefaction Equipment

US LNG developer Venture Global said June 19 it has begun installing liquefaction equipment at its 10mn mt/yr Calcasieu Pass LNG development in Louisiana.

The first two brazed aluminum heat exchangers – also known as cold boxes (pictured in banner, courtesy Venture Global) – arrived on June 18, and workers immediately began to set them in place. Another 16 cold boxes are planned for the liquefaction facility, which is comprised of 18 mid-scale, modular trains.

The cold boxes, manufactured in the US by Chart Industries, arrived at the project site four months ahead of schedule and just 10 months after Venture Global took a final investment decision on Calcasieu Pass. The liquefaction modules are being manufactured in Italy by Baker Hughes.

“We are extremely impressed with the early delivery and execution by Chart Industries and appreciate our collaboration with them,” Venture Global’s co-CEOs, Bob Pender and Mike Sabel, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Venture Global announced June 18 that Jonathan (Jack) Thayer had joined the company as CFO, coming over from a position as vice chairman, corporate operations and CFO at Woodward Inc, which provides aerospace and industrial systems and components. He has also served as CFO at two Fortune 500 companies: Exelon Corporation, a utility, power marketing and generation holding company, and Constellation Energy Group, a large integrated energy company with power generation, gas and electric distribution and energy management services.
