UAE Dishes Out Contract for Recent Gas Find

UAE's Sharjah National Oil Corp (Snoc) has awarded an engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning contract to London-listed Lamprell at the onshore Mahani gas and condensate field in the Sharjah Emirate, the contractor said in a statement on May 20.

The work is to be completed by early 2021 and relates to the Mahani extended well test project, covering the well's hook-up and installation, existing systems upgrades, associated tie-ins and a new 25-km export pipeline.

Mahani was discovered by Snoc and its Italian partner Eni in January and was hailed as the first onshore gas find in the Sharjah Emirate in 37 years.

"Snoc is an important client for us and through delivering to consistently high and competitive standards, we are very proud of the track record we've developed with them," Lamprell CEO Christopher McDonald said in a statement. "Mahani is a strategy gas discovery. We are looking forward to being associated with it, delivering this project safely and on time."

Lamprell, based in the UAE, described the contract as medium-sized, placing its value at somewhere between $6mn and $50mn.
