Turkey Inks Gas Supply Deal with Azerbaijan
Turkey and Azerbaijan today entered into a natural gas supply agreement key to the development of the Southern Gas Corridor and the Nabucco pipeline project.
The agreement, two years in the making, commits Turkey to annual purchases of 6 billion cubic meters of gas and will arrange for the transit of an additional 10 billion cubic meters to Europe via Nabucco.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Izmir, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said he was expected the completion of the pipeline construction between Turkey and Azerbaijan next year.
