Turkey completes first test flow at Black Sea find
Turkey has conducted its first test flow at the Turkali-2 appraisal well at the Sakarya gas discovery it made in the Black Sea last year, the project's state-owned operator TPAO reported on July 28.
TPAO said on social media on July 28 it had test-flowed 0.75mn m3/day of gas at a stable rate from the reservoir's first section, and would go on to test two more sections. Data and samples will be used to optimise the plan for developing the field, which Turkish authorities say could yield its first gas in 2023.

Turkey announced the Sakarya discovery in August 2020, initially estimating its size at 320bn m3. It raised its resource estimate to 405bn m3 later that year. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced in June that a further 135bn m3 of gas had been found.
