Turkey finds more gas in the Black Sea
Turkish state-run media reported June 4 that a natural gas discovery in its territorial waters of the Black Sea was a sign of things to come.
Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan was quoted by the Anadolu Agency as saying drilling of the Amasra-1 well is ongoing and “we expect new good news from this region.”

"Our Fatih drill ship has made a new natural gas discovery of 135bn m3 in the Amasra-1 well in the Sakarya gas field," he said.
Erdogan suggested the natural gas would be drawn into the Turkish market, with the process starting with gas production systems offshore and finally a pipeline that will connect to facilities on land. Around 155 km of pipeline is expected for connections to the Black Sea port city of Zonguldak
Anadolu reported that the new find follows last year’s discovery of 405bn m3 of natural gas offshore.
First production from Sakarya is expected by 2023. Output is expected at an initial rate of between 5-10bn m3/year, with an expansion potential to 15bn m3/y.
