Eni, Partners Test Flow Egyptian Gas Find

Italy's Eni and partners BP and Total have successfully test-flowed a discovery they made at the Bashrush prospect off Egypt at the start of July, estimating that the well could flow up to 100mn ft³/day of gas and 800 barrels/day of condensate.

In a statement, Eni said it would continue screening options to exploit Bashrush with its partners, in co-ordination with state-run Egyptian Natural Gas Holding. The aim is to fast-track development using the area's existing infrastructure.

Bashrush is in the North El Hammad concession, which Eni operates with a 37.5% interest. BP holds a further 37.5% and Total 25%. It is 12 km northwest of the Nooros field and 1 km west of the Baltim South West field, both of which are in production and operated by Eni.

"These results support our strategy to allocate a significant share of our exploration budget to the search of hydrocarbons in the vicinity of existing infrastructures," Total's senior vice president for exploration, Kevin McLachlan, said in a separate statement. “These resources have low development costs since they can rapidly be tied-in and put into production.”
