Technip Energies scores another UAE contract
French upstream services company Technip Energies said December 8 it secured an engineering contract for work at an oil and gas concession in the UAE, work that includes carbon capture and storage (CCS) for enhanced oil recovery.
For undisclosed terms, Technip Energies said it secured a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for the so-called Ghasha concession.

Technip Energies said the contract is geared toward the development of oil and gas reserves from Ghasha. The offshore concession is composed of nine oil and gas fields. Technip singled out the natural gas production target of more than 1.5bn ft3/d.
“In addition, the CO2 capture, dehydration and export shall be an integral part of the project facilities, thereby reinforcing ADNOC’s decarbonisation and sustainability commitments,” Technip Energies stated.
The captured CO2 would be used for enhanced oil recovery, which Technip Energies described as a “critical” component of the project.
The FEED contract comes two days after Technip Energies secured a major contract to build an ethane cracker in the UAE. Ethane, which is separated from methane when natural gas is processed, is primarily used to produce ethylene. This in turn serves as a feedstock to make plastics and other petrochemical products.
“For the past four decades, we have been committed to ADNOC through added value services and continued our commitment to expand local execution capabilities and enhance in-country value,” said Technip Energies COO Marco Villa.
