Firms form Saudi CCS pact

Saudi Arabia's Industrialisation and Energy Services Co (TAQA) and US firm Advance Resources International (ARI) announced earlier this month they had formed a strategic alliance to develop carbon sequestration and underground storage facilities in the kingdom and elsewhere in the Middle East.

"We’re very excited to partner with a world-class firm having international experience spanning for more than 40 years in carbon sequestration, underground storage and enhanced oil recovery projects," TAQA CEO Khalid Nouh said in a statement.

"We are most pleased to partner with TAQA, a recognised leader in providing high quality oil field services, on carbon sequestration and enhanced oil recovery studies and projects in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region," ARI president Vello Kuuskraa added. "Carbon sequestration and EOR are two critical technologies essential for achieving a successful energy transition.”
