Subsea 7 to help develop Turkey’s largest gas field
UK offshore services company Subsea 7 said October 15 it was part of a consortium with Schlumberger that has been tapped to help bring Turkey's offshore Sakarya natural gas field into production.
Subsea 7 and Schlumberger secured an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for the Black Sea field.

The contract will “cover the subsurface solutions to onshore production, including completions, subsea production systems, subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines and an early production facility,” Subsea 7 said.
Schlumberger added that the Sakarya field is “the largest gas reserve ever discovered in Turkey.”
Turkey announced the Sakarya discovery in August 2020, initially estimating its size at 320bn m3. It raised its resource estimate to 405bn m3 later that year. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced in June that a further 135bn m3 of gas had been found.
Turkey conducted its first test flow at the Turkali-2 appraisal well at the Sakarya gas discovery last year.
Turkish Petroleum awarded the contract. The consortium offered no details on the financial terms other than to say it was “major,” with Subsea 7’s share exceeding $750mn.
