Shell reports first gas off Trinidad & Tobago
Shell announced late on March 31 it had achieved first gas at Block 22 and the adjacent NCMA-4 area off the coast of Trinidad and Tobago.
Block 22 and NCMA-4 contain two fields each and are being developed jointly under the Colibri project, which Shell took a final investment decision on two years ago. Production is expected to reach 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent/day in the near-term, and peak at 43,000 boe/d, once all four wells are up and running.

The gas will be delivered to the Poinsettia platform, for onward delivery to both the domestic market, supporting petrochemicals production, and LNG export markets. The start-up at Colibri follows amendments to production sharing contracts for the Manatee field that will allow for the delivery of gas to domestic markets in Trinidad and Tobago and internationally through Atlantic LNG, where Shell holds interests ranging from 46% to 57.5% in each of four liquefaction trains.
Shell operates both Block 22 and NCMA-4, with shares of 90% and 80% respectively. The remaining stakes are held by national oil company Heritage Petroleum.
