Serbia Certifies TurkStream Operator
Serbia's energy regulator Aers has adopted a decision to certify Gastrans as an independent gas transmission system operator, it said on its website on February 21.
Gastrans, which is 51% owned by Russia's Gazprom and 49% by Serbian counterpart Srbijagas, is to serve as the operator of the 403-km Serbian section of the TurkStream pipeline.
The 31.5bn m3/yr TurkStream began flowing Russian gas to Turkey and other countries in southeast Europe in January, and is due to be extended through Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary. Serbia broke ground on its section in May, with the government estimating that the pipeline would be ready by the end of last year. However, it is yet to announce the work's completion. Serbia bought 2.14bn m3 of Russian gas last year.
