Russia, Algeria Discuss LNG Supplies
Russia's Gazprom held talks about LNG supplies with Algeria's state energy firm Sonatrach on Thursday.
The topic was discussed in Moscow during a working meeting among Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Company's Management Committee, Said Sahnoun, President and CEO of Sonatrach and Ali Hashed, Advisor to the Energy Minister of Algeria, Gazprom said in a statement.
The Russian firm also said that drilling at the El Assel oil and gas block in Algeria, jointly developed by Gazprom and Sonatrach, has confirmed the existence of hydrocarbon resources.
“Six exploratory wells had been drilled as part of the project for exploration and development of the El Assel oil- and gas-bearing area in Algeria. The well survey has proven the availability of hydrocarbons pay zones. At present, the delineation of deposits is underway at the field,” Gazprom said.
