Rosneft's Sechin loses his super-yacht: press
Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin has had his super yacht compounded by Spanish authorities, Reuters reported March 16.
Authorities confirmed a super yacht called the Crescent had been intercepted at Tarrogina marina in Spain, but refused to be drawn in on the vessel's owner. A Spanish police official went off record to tell Reuters it was Sechin's though a marina spokesperson insisted the registration was held outside of Russia.

Sechin faces harsh EU sanctions due to his ties to Russian president Vladimir Putin. French authorities confiscated a second yacht believed to be his on March 4, Reuters said.
While targeting the leader of Russia's leading oil giant, the EU is also hurting a long-standing Putin supporter. Sechin had a stint as Putin's deputy chief of staff from 2000 to 2008. Before that, Putin counted on Sechin in his time as St Petersburg's deputy mayor in the early 1990s, according to the Financial Times.
The Crescent is apparently the third super yacht with Russian oligarchal ties seized by Spanish authorities in recent days. It follows the detention of a yacht owned by Alexander Mikheyev on March 15 and a ship linked to Sergei Chemezov, chief of Russian aerospace and defence conglomerate Rostec, on March 14, Reuters said.
