Pure Hydrogen reports early gas breakout at Venus-1
Sydney-listed Pure Hydrogen Corp on June 3 said its Venus-1 exploration well, located on Project Venus in central Queensland, has recorded initial gas breakout after only 50 barrels of water production.
“The early gas breakout confirms the interpreted high gas saturation of the target Walloon coals,” it said. The breakout gas rate was estimated at 84,000 ft3/day with the gas rate expected to continue increasing as the control pressure drawdown continues.

Given the results of the flow test and the current gas pressure build-up, Pure Hydrogen said, a successful enhancement at Venus-1 could substantially decrease the time to achieve commercial flows. It is considering a second stage, more robust, enhancement at the Venus pilot well in the coming weeks.
Proving commercial gas flows at Venus-1 could convert the recently certified 130 PJ of 2C gas resource to 2P gas reserves. “Certifying 130 PJ’s of gas reserves is sufficient to underpin a sizeable gas sales contract to justify the development of the Venus CSG field and connection to the nearby gas pipeline infrastructure,” it said.
In addition, Pure Hydrogen has selected Project Saturn as a potential location for a demonstration coal seam gas-to-hydrogen production facility and hydrogen hub.
