Pipelines: Oh Really Mr. Kramer
In a recent article in the Financial Times (Read HERE) Marcel Kramer, head of the Russian backed South Stream pipeline project urged that the European Union should create a level playing field among the various projects to bring gas to the continent along new routes.
Further, Mr. Kramer stated that he believes Russian gas pipeline construction plans are driven by economics - “Russia has many projects to spend its money on and would not spend it on a pipeline system that might not be economical.”
Mikhail Korchemin, President of East European Gas Analysis, states that this statement is not correct, pointing to the Gazprom commissioned Sokhranovka-Oktyabrskaya pipeline.
