Nord Stream 2 ready for pre-commissioning: operator
The offshore part of one line of Nord Stream 2 has been mechanically completed, the operator said June 10. "Pipelay was completed on June 4 and the above water tie-in was performed today," Nord Stream 2 AG said. "The offshore pipeline sections laid from Russia and Germany have thus been interconnected."
The necessary pre-commissioning activities will be carried out over the next few months to prepare for gas-in, it said. "Offshore pipelay works on the second line are ongoing. All activities are in accordance with the respective permits," the statement concluded, possibly referring to Baltic Pipe, whose construction permit was unexpectedly revoked by the Danish environment ministry June 3. The two pipelines cross over in Danish waters.

Nord Stream 2 declined to comment on what impact, if any, the formal withdrawal from the project by certification agency DNV would have on the start date of commercial deliveries. It told NGW earlier in the day that pipelay works on the other line were continuing. As with Nord Stream 1, the 55bn m³/yr line is formed of two equal lines carrying half each.
President Vladimir Putin had told the St Petersburg International Economic Forum that the first string was complete June 4, demonstrating the importance of the project to the Kremlin. A number of European Union member states as well as major gas transit country Ukraine, are opposed to the project.
