Shenzhen Landslide Triggers Explosion in a Section of China West-East Gas Pipeline
Sunday’s landslide in Shenzhen city of south China's Guangdong Province has resulted in an explosion in a nearby section of the West-East natural gas pipeline, according to a report by state owned broadcaster CCTV.
As per reports close to 100 people were missing due to the landslide which is suspected to have been caused by the build-up of waste construction mud in the vicinity.
The West–East pipeline is a set of natural gas pipelines which run from the western part of China to the east. The 4,000 kilometres long pipeline runs from Lunnan in Xinjiang to Shanghai. The pipeline passes through 66 cities in the 10 provinces in China.
The pipeline is supplied from the Tarim Basin gas fields in Xinjiang province. The Changqing gas area in Shaanxi province is a secondary gas source
