Iran’s Ilam Gas Refinery Will Supply Gas to Iraq
Iran’s Ilam gas refinery, which produces two billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas annually, will be among the suppliers of gas to Iraq, Fars News Agency reported.
The two neighbours have inked a deal where Iran will supply gas to Iraq via pipeline to feed power plants in the province of Basra.
Earlier this year, former Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qassemi announced that the country will gain more than $5bn from gas exports to neighbouring Iraq, Fars News Agency said.
The proposed pipeline will start from Assaluyeh, near the massive offshore South Pars Gas Field in Southern Iran, and will continue into Iraq to feed three Iraqi power plants running on gas.
