Indonesia to extend gas price cap for select industries, but cap may be raised
JAKARTA, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Indonesia will extend its gas price cap for the select seven industrial sectors but will not expand the policy to include other sectors, energy minister Bahlil Lahadalia told reporters on Wednesday.
The current price cap of $6 per million British thermal units (mmbtu), however, may be raised to adjust to global gas prices, he added.

A decision on the new price cap will be announced soon, he added.
The $6 price cap was set in 2020 for the seven industrial sectors, including oleochemicals, rubber glove makers and ceramics, to help shield them from the impact of the pandemic.
There have been requests by the industry ministry in recent years to include other sectors in the policy, but critics have said the move could curb investment in Indonesia's gas production sector.
