GE Wins Gas Gen Order in Senegal
General Electric (GE) reported on January 28 it had secured a contract from West African Energy for gas power generation equipment for a planned 300-MW combined-cycle power plant in Dakar, Senegal.
The Cap des Biches station is due online in 2022 and will be the biggest source of power in the country, generating 25% of national demand. GE will supply two 9E.03 gas turbines, one STF-A200 steam turbine, three A39 generators, two heat recovery steam generators and additional equipment, it said.

Turkey's Calik Energi is serving as the project's engineering, procurement and construction contractor. Senegal has large offshore gas reserves.
