Gazprom to Partner with Linde in LNG Engineering
Russia’s Gazprom plans to set up a joint venture with Germany’s Linde to design facilities for the processing and liquefaction of gas.
The pair signed an agreement on the partnership at the St Petersburg International Gas Forum on October 3. The joint venture will craft technical, design and engineering documentation for gas facilities and provide services during the commissioning and operation of LNG plants. They are already working together at the Amur gas processing plant, where Linde will use cryogenic technology to separate the helium from the methane produced at the Chayandinskoe field.
Gazprom approved plans in March for the development of an integrated gas processing and LNG production on the Baltic Sea. Due on stream in 2023, the complex will process 45bn m3/yr of gas and produce 13mn mt/yr of LNG for export.
There were concerns about where Gazprom would source the technologies needed for the project after its partner Shell exited the venture in April.
