Danish renewable producer in Quebec RNG plan

Danish renewable energy company Nature Energy said March 15 it had acquired land in Quebec to build its first biogas plant in North America, a C$100mn investment to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) from local waste sources.

Nature Energy will work with agricultural producers to use agricultural biomass and with other local industries to use other waste sources to produce 20mn m3/year of RNG, which will be injected into the Quebec natural gas grid. It is expected to result in about 80,000 mt/yr of CO2 emissions.

The project will create about 200 construction jobs and 15 permanent jobs when it begins operations by the end of 2024.
