Croatian LNG Pipe still on Track for 2020 Launch
Croatian gas transmission system operator Plinacro said on May 12 that construction of a gas pipeline worth kuna 430mn ($62mn) that will link a planned LNG terminal at the island of Krk to the mainland system was still on track for completion at the end of this year, in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A trench has been dug for almost the entire Omisalj-Zlobin pipeline's 17.5-km length, and 7.4 km of pipeline have been installed. Work is also underway on connection points at both ends of the pipeline.
Omisalj-Zlobin will distribute supplies from the 2.6bn m3/yr Krk LNG import terminal starting in 2021. The terminal is expected to serve customers not only in Croatia but also potentially consumers in Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.
