Algeria Wants to Export LNG to Pakistan
Algerian ambassador to Pakistan Ahmed Benflis has said that the North African nation wants to boost bilateral business ties and is interested in exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the south Asian nation.
Pakistan has been facing severe gas shortage in the last few years and has been looking to augment energy supplies to provide to its industries. According to estimates, domestic gas shortage has reached 1.6 billion cubic feet (BCF) per day, resulting in closure of hundreds of industrial units across the country.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Benflis said that Pakistan faces acute energy shortage and Algeria could help Islamabad by exporting LNG, media reports said.
