WINGAS, E.ON Launch CHP Plant in Lubmin

Germany-based WINGAS and E.ON Energy Projects launched a combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Lubmin, reads a note released on Friday.

‘The plant sets new standards in terms of decentral and flexible energy generation: a highly efficient gas turbine developed by Siemens is being deployed in Lubmin for the first time. It allows the plant to reach full load capacity in just ten minutes,’ reads the press release.

The CHP is located at the landing terminal of the Nord Stream Baltic Sea pipeline, which delivers a reliable supply of natural gas.

“The plant is a prime example of innovative, decentral energy generation: electricity and hear are generated precisely where they are needed, thus reducing the burden on the energy supply networks long-term,” WINGAS Managing Director Ludwig Möhring comment.

The overall efficiency of the plant is over 85%, say to the two companies.

“Energy generated decentrally not only caters to the wishes of our customers, it is also a key element of the energy transition in Germany,” Ingo Luge, Chairman of the Board of Management of E.ON Deutschland explained.
