IT’S a practice so controversial it’s a dirty word in Ireland, but what is fracking all about? And could it really benefit Ireland’s future?

A top documentary-maker has warned that this country is going to miss out on the energy revolution because too many people here are protesting against an industry, which he says, is perfectly safe.

Journalist and filmmaker Phelim McAleer claims he’s so unconcerned about the practice that “they could frack in my kitchen”.

He’s one of a growing number of people — including some Irish politicians — who believe that it should be introduced to Ireland.  MORE
