Weather Delays Fracking at Siekierki

Polish Press Agency reports that weather related challenges have resulted in delays at the Siekieki site of Energia Zachód.

Energia Zachód is owned 90% by London listed Aurelian Oil & Gas and 10% by Avobone N.V, a holding of the Indofin Group, a globally operating investment group.

"The work is extended due to the weather. We are now before the fracturing of gas and combustion test. We plan to execute fracturing treatment in late January," commented Beata Szozdak of PR Q&A Consulting, a public relations firm representing Energia Zachód.

Aurelian had previously announced that fracturing would take place by year-end 2010.

Energia Zachód began drilling the Trzek-2 well in search of tight gas at Siekierki near Poznan at the end of June, drilling vertically to a target depth of 4,150m to evaluate the Rotliegendes reservoir as previously tested by the Trzek-1 well in 2007.

Earlier this year the company stated that Halliburton would undertake up to 10 fracture stimulations. A flow test to determine the productivity of the stimulated well was expected to commence in late November with flow rates to be reported in December.

Similar tests undertaken in July by Halliburton for PGNiG at Markowoli did not yield the expected results (Read More HERE).
