US LNG exports increase for second week
US LNG exports increased in September 1-8 by 1bn ft3 compared with the level in the previous week, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on September 9.

The EIA reported that 74bn ft3 of gas as LNG left US export terminals between September 1 and September 8. Those exports left on 20 vessels. Seven of those left from Sabine Pass and four left from Cameron, both in Louisiana. Four each departed from the Corpus Christi and Freeport terminals, both in Texas, and one left from Cove Point off Maryland.
This is the second week in a row for gains in LNG, and it comes as operators up and down the US Gulf Coast struggle to recover from Hurricane Ida. The storm made landfall in Louisiana as a category 4 hurricane on August 29, though more than half of total offshore oil and gas production remains offline.
EIA noted that imagery from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) showed “extensive damage” to regional energy infrastructure, including facilities that process natural gas.
LNG exporters told NGW ahead of the storm that they enacted hurricane preparation plans, but were largely spared by the worst of the impact.
For piped exports, EIA data show deliveries to Mexico dropped from 6.3bn ft3/d on average during the week ending August 31 to 5.8bn ft3/d during the current reporting week.
Net imports of piped gas from Canada also declined. EIA data show average daily values of 4.5bn ft3, compared to 5.1bn ft3/d during the previous week.
