US becomes top LNG exporter for first time: press
The US became the world's biggest exporter of LNG in December, thanks to a surge in supplies to Europe, Bloomberg reported on January 4.
Production at US liquefaction facilities surpassed that at terminals in Qatar, due to a growth in shipments from Sabine Pass and Freeport facilities, according to Bloomberg. The sixth terminal at Cheniere's Sabin Pass plant started producing for the first time in late November.

US has reached the top spot among LNG suppliers less than six years after sending its first cargo of the super-cooled gas overseas. The country was previously a net importer of LNG, but its production has grown by some 70% since 2010 on the back of the shale revolution.
