UK's Savannah to supply gas to Nigerian power co
UK-based independent energy company Savannah Energy will supply gas to TransAfam Power’s (TAPL) power plants in Rivers State, Nigeria, it said on June 6.
Savannah’s subsidiary, Accugas, has signed a gas supply agreement (GSA) with TransAfam, which is a licensed power generation company in Nigeria and is the core investor in the Afam Power and Afam Three Fast Power plants located in Okoloma with an installed capacity of 966 MW.

"I am delighted to add TAPL as a new customer of Accugas. This represents the second new GSA we have signed this year, bringing our total number of gas customers to seven, as we deliver on our objective to be the gas supplier of choice to the power sector in Nigeria,” Savannah CEO Andrew Knott said.
Accugas will supply up to 35mn ft3/day of gas for an initial term of three months, with the option to extend for a mutually agreed period. The plants are connected to the Accugas network via the Nigerian Gas Company pipeline from Ikot Abasi. Savannah said no further tie-in or capital expenditure is required to deliver the gas.
Savannah is developing energy projects in Africa and is active in Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria.
