UK’s LOC Group Lands LNG Canada Contract
London-based LOC Group said February 17 it has secured a multi-year contract to provide marine warranty surveyor (MWS) services and vessel quality assurance to the Anglo-Dutch Shell-led LNG Canada project.
Under terms of the contract, LOC will oversee the transportation of more than 200 modules – some as large as 7,500 metric tons – from fabrication yards in Asia to the LNG Canada project site near Kitimat, on BC’s northern coast. The first phase of the project involves construction of two liquefaction trains, each rated at 7mn mt/yr, requiring the delivery of as many as 220 modules carrying an aggregate weight of as much as 200,000 metric tons.
“We are very pleased to be working on the LNG Canada project,” Ewan Browell, managing director of LOC Canada, said. “LOC has a strong track record of working on projects of this scale and considerable expertise with marine operations for onshore construction projects.”
