Ukraine transits 53% less Russian Gas in Q1
The gas transmission system operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) transited 4.6bn m3 of gas to the EU and Moldova in March, marking an 18% rise from the level in February but a 36% decline yr/yr, it said on April 2.
Transit volumes in the first quarter slumped 53% yr/yr to 11.1bn m3, it said.
Under a new transit agreement reached in late December, Gazprom has to pay whether or not it sends a minimum of 65bn m3 via Ukraine to its customers this year, down from 89.6bn m3 in 2019.
According to GTSOU, Russia's Gazprom paid for all reserved capacity for the first quarter. To meet its quota this year, the supplier would need to send 16.3bn m3 of gas via Ukraine on average each quarter.
