UKOG Bids for Three Turkish Licences
London-listed UK Oil & Gas (UKOG) and its Turkish joint venture partner Aladdin Middle East (AME) have applied for three more exploration licences in southeast Turkey, the company said in a filing on December 10.
The licences cover four blocks spanning 150 km3 to the south and south-east of UKOG's 305-km3 Basur-Resan licence. These four blocks "straddle multiple large identified undrilled surface geological features," UKOG said. These features are similar geologically to the company's Basur-Resan oil appraisal project, as well as AME's producing East Sadak oilfield in Iraq's Kurdistan region, it said.
"To date, the application blocks have been scantily explored with almost no seismic coverage and few wells," UKOG said. The company is competing for the blocks with three other applicants, including Turkish state oil company TPAO.
