UK Upstream Regulator CEO Extends Contract

The head of the UK upstream regulator Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) Andy Samuel has agreed to extend his term by two years to provide more stability in today's turbulence. He is now due to leave at the end of 2022, the OGA said April 2.

The chairman of the OGA board, former energy minister Tim Eggar, said that "maintaining his consistent leadership is more important than ever, whether in our work to help support the response to oil price and Covid challenges or in our work championing the net zero future for this industry.”

The extension has been approved by the government, OGA said. Samuel's contract with the OGA was due to expire at the end of 2020.
