Turkmenistan Gets Aggressive About Developing Galkynysh Gas Field

Turkmenistan is aggressively looking to develop its giant Galkynysh natural gas field, Turkmenistan.ru said in a report.

At a meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov signed a resolution in which Turkmengaz has been mandated to ink deals with Halliburton Eurasia, Western Atlas International Inc. and Weatherford Oil Tool to drill for gas in the mega gas field. The plan is to drill seven wells, the news report said.

Galkynysh natural gas field is world’s second largest in the world after South Pars. According to estimates , the field contains 26.2 trillion cu. m of gas. Gas from the field would begin flowing in a year.
