Famagusta Gazette: Turkish companies show interest in supply of energy from Cyprus, President indicates

Turkish companies in the energy field have sounded out Cyprus in relation to the supply of natural gas from the Republic`s exclusive economic zone, President Nicos Anastasiades has told the Greek language daily “Alithia”.

He said that at present natural gas is the most important incentive Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots have to solve the Cyprus problem.

In the first part of his interview, the President said that Ankara`s priority, nowadays, as far as its needs are concerned, is not the European Union but the supply of energy as a result of the industrial development.

Cyprus and Israel, he noted, are the closest source of energy and of supply to Turkey.
