Turkey's Gas Imports in 2015 to Jump Almost 10%
Turkey’s natural gas imports this year are expected to reach 52.2 billion cubic meters, an increase of 9.6 percent compared with last year, Anadolu Agency reported Thursday citing energy ministry.
Last year the country imported 47.6 billion cubic meters of gas.
The Petroleum Pipeline Corporation of Turkey, BOTAS, will import 20 bcm of gas from Russia via the West Line and Blue Stream pipelines, the energy ministry said, reported the news agency.
Also, BOTAS is likely to import additional 10 bcm from Iran and 6.6 bcm from Azerbaijan. The company also plans to import some 5.6 bcm from Algeria and Nigeria as liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Additionally, the ministry expects other companies apart from BOTAS to import some 10 bcm from Russia, Anadolu Agency added.
