Turkey's Botas signs long-term LNG deal with ExxonMobil
Turkey's state energy firm, Botas, has inked an agreement with the US energy giant, ExxonMobil, to procure LNG, it announced on May 9.
The deal, signed during the visit of the Turkish minister of energy and natural resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, to the US, entails Turkey purchasing 2.5mn tonnes/year of LNG from ExxonMobil for a duration of 10 years. However, Botas has not disclosed the commencement date for the LNG supplies.
Bayraktar shared his thoughts on the agreement via his social media account, stating, "With this agreement, which is planned to be long-term, we will take another step in diversifying our resources."
This agreement marks the second major long-term LNG deal secured by Botas in recent weeks. In mid-April, the Turkish energy company signed a similar 10-year LNG supply contract with Oman LNG, further bolstering Turkey's energy diversification efforts.
