TransCanada Files for West Path Boost

TransCanada, through its Nova Gas Transmission Limited (NGTL) subsidiary, has filed an application with Canada’s National Energy Board (NEB) for approval to build and operate the $409mn West Path Delivery Project.

The project, consisting of 21.5 km of new pipeline looping and 60 MW of additional compression west of Calgary, would increase capacity of NGTL’s system in the southwest corner of the province by 273mn ft³/day and increase the capacity to deliver gas into ex-Alberta pipelines serving markets in BC and the US Pacific Northwest to about 2.9bn ft³/day.

To meet firm service commitments subscribed in a May 2017 open season, NGTL has asked the NEB for a decision by March 2019 in order meet a June 2020 in-service target.
