Toshiba Wins EPC Contract for Japanese CCGT

Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions (Toshiba ESS) and Toshiba Plant Systems & Services (TPSC) have won an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract that includes civil engineering for replacement work for the Goi gas-fired power plant from Goi United Generation, Toshiba ESS said July 1.

The Goi gas-fired combined cycle power plant (CCGT), located in eastern Japan's Chiba prefecture, will have a power output of 2.34 GW, and is expected to start operations from 2024 to 2025. Goi United Generation is jointly funded by Jera and JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation.

Toshiba ESS will be in charge of the civil engineering, plant design, equipment supply, and construction work, while TPSC will be handling equipment installation. The plant will combine General Electric’s gas turbines and Toshiba ESS’s steam turbines and generators and achieve a thermal efficiency of 64%, Toshiba ESS said.
