Today's Zaman: Gazprom Turns Down Turkey’s Request for 3 bcm of Gas via Blue Stream

Russia's state-owned Gazprom has rejected Turkey's request for an additional 3 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas to Turkey via the Blue Stream pipeline.

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said on Thursday that an additional 3 bcm supply of gas to Turkey had been declined. Miller added that at least 2 bcm could by shipped via the planned Turkish Stream pipeline.

However, during an official visit to Ankara last December, Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced that Turkey would be supplied with an additional 3 bcm through Blue Stream. In 2013, a total of 13.7 bcm of gas was pumped to Turkey via Blue Stream.

The late-2016 projected opening for Turkish Stream pipeline project, which will supply gas to both Turkey and Europe, might be postponed, as Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday that the conclusion of the first part of the project could be delayed until the end of 2017. MORE
