Tianjin Port 9M LNG Imports Spike: Xinhua
LNG imports via China's Tianjin port jumped 91.2% year on year in the January-September (9M 2019) period to 7.12mn metric tons, Xinhua reported October 29 citing Tianjin customs data.
The total value of LNG imports grew 88.8% year on year to yuan 23.46bn ($3.3bn), making Tianjin port China's largest port for LNG imports, the state-run news agency said. LNG imported from Australia rose 110% to 4.84mn mt during the period, accounting for 67.9% year on year of the total. Tianjin has two LNG receiving terminals, one operated by Cnooc and the other by Sinopec.
China's overall LNG imports have been robust this year as well. During 9M 2019, Asia biggest economy imported 43.39mn mt of LNG, representing a 17.4% increase compared with the same period of last year, the Chinese customs department’s data published October 23 showed.
