Thai PTTEP boosts G1/61 project gas sales volume

The G1/61 project, operated by Thai PTTEP, has increased its sales volume to 800mn ft3/day, the company said on March 20. This ramp-up aims to bolster the supply of natural gas in the domestic market, thereby fortifying Thailand's energy security.

“Increasing natural gas delivery from the G1/61 project has been PTTEP’s priority over the past two years. As gas from the Gulf of Thailand is a primary source of energy serving both households and industries, PTTEP, therefore has accelerated all operations to ramp up the production,” CEO Montri Rawanchaikul said.

The state-owned energy producer secured the G1/61 project through a bid in 2018 and formalised the production sharing contract in 2019. The project has seen the installation of 12 wellhead platforms and subsea pipelines, alongside a drilling campaign that has yielded over 300 producing wells.

Looking ahead, PTTEP plans to maintain its momentum by executing an annual work plan, which includes installing eight new wellhead platforms and drilling an additional 300 producing wells for the G1/61 project.
