Technip Energies to provide FEED for UK's Viking CCS project
Technip Energies on February 1 said it has been awarded the front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the Viking CCS, a project led by Harbour Energy in partnership with BP.
The Viking CCS project is situated in the Humber, the UK's most industrialised area and a major emitter of CO2. The primary focus of the Viking CCS initiative is the efficient transportation and storage of captured CO2 into the depleted Viking gas fields.
This project aims to reduce UK emissions by 10mn tonnes/year tonnes by 2030, with a further target of 15mn tonnes/year by 2035.
Technip Energies, supported by its subsidiary Genesis, will provide FEED services for the CO2 transportation system. This encompasses the design and engineering of the CO2 handling station, both onshore and offshore pipelines, and a Not Permanently Attended Installation (NPAI) platform.
Harbour and BP agreed to develop the Viking CCS project in 2023. Under the terms of the agreement, Harbour will be the operator of the project with a 60% interest and BP will have a 40% non-operated share.
