All Africa: Tanzania - Managing Tax Risks - Taxes Applicable to Oil, Gas Sector

Tanzania has made significant natural gas discoveries of over about 55 trillion cubic feet. Production activities of some of these discoveries has already started. Oil exploration activities are also ongoing and there is a potential for more discoveries. Overall the country is blessed with hydrocarbon energy resources such as coal, natural gas, oil etc. Various players both local and multinational enterprises have ventured into the oil and gas sector.

Being a relatively new sector, it is important for players in the sector to acquaint themselves with the taxation regime applicable in the sector to ensure that the tax risk is properly managed.
