Syria to Start Gas Production Near Homs Province
Natural gas production is expected to commence in Sadad gas field in Syria’s Homs province.
Syrian oil minister Suleiman al-Abbas said Wednesday that well No. 7 in Sadad gas field will begin production by Thursday with a total production capacity of 500 thousand cubic meters of gas per day, Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
The minister visited the site to inspect the primary results of cooperation between the Syrian Petroleum Company and the Syrian Gas Company to connect the well to Saddad gas plant.
al-Abbas said the gas will be used to generate electricity. Syria has been facing shortage of gas as rebel groups have captured number of production sites in Deir Ezzor, Hasaka and Palmyra, the news agency said.
