Switzerland Denies Reports of Iranian Gas Deal
Switzerland has denied reports that it has agreed to import gas from Iran, Bloomberg has reported.
Iran’s state-owned Press TV website reported earlier this month that the central Asian nation has finalised a deal with Switzerland to supply natural gas.
The reports are “nonsense,” Conradin Rasi, a spokesman for the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, told Bloomberg.
Rasi said EGL, which put on hold the talks to buy Iranian gas in 2010, has since changed its name to Axpo Trading and has no plans to procure gas from Iran, Bloomberg reported
“The Iranians are behaving as if there are no sanctions,” Rasi said. “It’s clear to everyone that it’s impossible to implement this agreement as long as international sanctions continue.”
