Strike secures production licence for West Erregulla gas field
Strike Energy announced on August 15 that production licence L25 has been granted by the department of energy, mines, industry, regulation and safety for the West Erregulla gas field in Western Australia.
The West Erregulla gas field is part of the EP469 permit area. The EP469 joint venture consists of Strike Energy, which operates the field with a 50% interest, and Warrego Energy, which holds the remaining 50%.

Located in the North Perth Basin, the West Erregulla gas field has an independently estimated gross 2P reserves of 452 PJ, along with additional 2C and contingent resources. The field was discovered, appraised, and engineered between 2019 and 2023.
"Receiving Production Licence L25 further de-risks the path for the development of the West Erregulla gas field. West Erregulla, Strike’s flagship asset, will be a timely and major source of new gas in WA, with production extending well into the 2040s," said Strike CEO Stuart Nicholls.
Last year, the company launched its gas acceleration strategy post-receipt of A$136mn ($90.4mn) in proceeds from the sale of its Warrego Energy shares. The company is targeting up to four sources of gas production - Walyering, Ocean Hill, and the South and West Erregulla gas fields - to come online by the end of 2025, commencing with Walyering.
"Strike has now delivered primary environmental approvals and secured production tenure across three of the four gas fields that make up its gas acceleration strategy," Nicholls added.
In June, Strike announced plans to develop a fully integrated 85 MW peaking gas power plant in South Erregulla. The proposed power plant will be fueled by South Erregulla’s gas reserves, which support a project life of over 25 years.
