Strike Energy to spud South Erregulla-1 this month
Australian oil and gas producer Strike Energy is planning to spud the South Erregulla-1 well in Western Australia later this month, it said on December 15.
The company has started mobilisation of equipment to its 100% owned South Erregulla project, with Strike having received all permits required to begin drilling South Erregulla-1.

The primary objective of the well is to delineate approximately 350 petajoules of resources in order to secure the gas requirements for Haber urea project (Project Haber) from Strike’s 100% owned permits. This amount of gas feedstock should allow the company to progress the project banking and equity processes with sufficient gas to cover the proposed tenor of any debt facilities, it said.
Strike said it has been awarded a A$2mn ($1.42mn) grant for Project Haber under the federal government’s Supply Chain Resilience Initiative. Further to the pre-FEED studies completed earlier this year, Strike has continued to progress the Project Haber FEED early works. The work has primarily focused on environmental approvals and consolidating the FEED basis of design, the company said. Concurrently, Strike has commenced the FEED / EPC tender process with the intent to award the FEED scope upon drilling success at South Erregulla-1.
